Description

The client seeks a strategic, collaborative Executive Director for Housing and Residence Life to lead a multifaceted residential enterprise serving nearly 7,000 residential students. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs with a secondary reporting relationship to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, the Executive Director provides senior leadership for university housing facilities, residential education, off-campus living, student conduct, safety, and operations, ensuring alignment with divisional and institutional priorities. This role is highly visible and is expected to cultivate partnerships across campus and the broader community to support a safe, thriving, student-centered residential experience.

The Executive Director will serve as a senior advisor on housing-related strategy and operations, stewarding an auxiliary budget of approximately $20 million. Responsibilities include leading a team of educators and services focused on the security and safety of residents, coordinating off-campus housing opportunities, and overseeing key functions within Housing and Residence Life, including Housing Facilities, Residential Education and Conduct, Administrative Services, and Off-Campus Living and Partnerships. As the university advances growth and transformation, the Executive Director will help shape residential strategies, partnerships, and facilities planning that support students’ academic and personal success, while also promoting a transformative living and learning experience.

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of seven years of progressive leadership experience directing a department or functional area within student affairs, along with substantial experience in crisis management, emergency response, and student wellbeing initiatives. The role requires strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to cultivate effective partnerships with diverse constituents. This full-time position is performed on-site in North Carolina, and salary is expected to be commensurate with experience and supported by a generous benefits package.
