The client is seeking an Executive Director to lead a housing organization serving rural communities in the Adirondacks. The organization provides support to help people in the North Country find and maintain safe, secure homes, with a focus on building lasting home stability and community wellbeing. The Executive Director will provide mission-driven leadership at a moment of organizational growth, building on prior success while shaping a future that expands reach and influence.
The Executive Director will navigate organizational complexity, inspire a committed team, and engage a broad network of stakeholders with authenticity and conviction. Responsibilities are expected to include setting strategic direction, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring alignment between program priorities and long-term sustainability. The role will involve working closely with governance stakeholders, including partnering with finance leadership and the Board to interpret financial information and guide sound decision-making.
The ideal candidate will bring senior leadership experience in nonprofit, housing, community development, or a related field, and will have a strong understanding of financial management in publicly funded environments. This includes familiarity with housing-related funding structures, grant compliance considerations, and restricted funding management. Working knowledge of grant writing and administration is expected to support strategic oversight of funding efforts, along with effective management of grant resources; a bachelor’s degree is required, and an advanced degree is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and senior-level leadership experience.
