The Executive Director provides strategic leadership, guidance, and administrative oversight for public media services in partnership with relevant state entities, supporting PBS- and radio-based operations and their associated stakeholders. This role establishes and nurtures relationships at local, state, and national levels, balancing the interests of multiple partners while focusing on meeting audience and stakeholder needs and preferences.
As a major public media organization, the Executive Director will help leverage evolving technologies to deliver content across the region through broadcast signals and subchannels, streaming, and multiple digital platforms. Working within a complex governance structure, the Executive Director leads a media service that represents and reflects the people served and fulfills regulatory license mandates. The role is also significantly focused on building organizational resilience and leveraging emerging opportunities through collaboration with external and prospective partners, including diverse educational, not-for-profit, and civic organizations.
The Executive Director reports to the Provost’s office within the client’s academic structure. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of increasingly responsible leadership roles in media, higher education, or an equivalent field, along with strategic leadership and management skills in complex organizations. Experience is expected in budgeting across diverse revenue streams, fundraising, and board governance; additional qualifications may be considered in line with the responsibilities of the role.
