The Executive Director, Government Relations will play a crucial role in helping our client navigate the evolving post-secondary sector by identifying opportunities, mitigating risks, and advancing the university's priorities with decision-makers at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels. Reporting to the Vice-Principal, University Relations, and serving as a member of the University Relations senior leadership team, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for the university's government relations function and serve as a key advisor on government priorities, public policy developments, and emerging political, legislative, regulatory, and funding issues. Working closely with various stakeholders across the institution, the Executive Director will provide strategic advice regarding opportunities, risks, and emerging developments that may impact the university's operations, reputation, research enterprise, student experience, and long-term objectives.The Executive Director will lead the identification and advancement of advocacy priorities that support our client's mission and strategic goals by overseeing environmental scanning and policy analysis activities, developing engagement strategies at different levels of government, assessing emerging political and policy risks, and coordinating institutional responses to issues and opportunities of strategic importance. Additionally, the role involves leading and developing a team of government relations professionals and serving as a key representative of the university with government officials, sector associations, strategic partners, and community stakeholders. This position is critical in ensuring that our client is well-positioned to address the challenges and opportunities in the post-secondary sector and effectively advocate for its interests at all levels of government.
