The Joint Water Organisation (JWO) will operate in a highly regulated and asset-intensive environment, overseen by Taumata Arowai, the Commerce Commission, and the Department of Internal Affairs. The district served by the JWO spans from coastal Timaru to the vast Mackenzie Basin, encompassing unique landscapes and strong community relationships with Papatipu R?naka, Arowhenua, Waiho, and Moeraki. The Establishment Chairperson will collaborate with the Establishment Chief Executive and the Joint Shareholder Committee (JSC) to shape the vision, strategic direction, and governance of the new entity, ensuring robust oversight, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and decision-making.The JWO is expected to be incorporated by October 2026 and operational by July 2027. The role of the Establishment Chairperson will be crucial in establishing effective governance structures, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, and ensuring high-quality decision-making processes from the outset.
