The client is an actively growing company in the Bitcoin mining sector with operations across multiple data centers and a focus on low-carbon power. As an ESG Director, you will help strengthen corporate responsibility across environmental (primarily carbon offsetting), social, and governance areas, and support the company’s future development in the U.S. and other regional markets. You will report directly to the COO and work as a senior member of the team.
In this role, you will supervise implementation of ESG practices across company facilities and evaluate potential data center sites globally from an ESG perspective, including access to low-carbon energy and energy efficiency. Responsibilities include formalizing and adopting ESG policies, establishing and managing an oversight committee for environmental risks and opportunities, reporting ESG issues, risks, and opportunities to the COO, and assessing ESG materiality using stakeholder input, subject matter expertise, and industry benchmarks. You will also define ESG eligibility criteria and goals across facilities, build and maintain a control framework to monitor ESG performance, and embed relevant metrics into decision-making to align with internal and global ESG objectives.
You will design and run internal programs to offset the company’s carbon footprint, manage current CO2 emissions, and visit sites to supervise implementation of relevant metering equipment. Additional responsibilities include managing participation in ESG-related organizations, handling applicable ESG performance certifications, and communicating ESG performance outcomes to the public with transparency. You will collaborate with technical and investment teams on analysis and transactions, lead other ESG initiatives as needed, and bring qualifications such as a bachelor’s degree, demonstrated project development and full lifecycle management, experience in business development or product management in a high carbon footprint environment, strong business plan execution and document analysis skills, familiarity with data center and cryptomining operations, and excellent communication and presentation capabilities.
