Description

The client is seeking a legal professional to provide coverage for the equities sales and trading business, with a focus on equity derivatives and structured equity finance transactions. This role will support trading activity across products such as equity swaps, options, and forwards, and will contribute to a long-term growth-oriented environment with a hybrid work schedule.

Key responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating trading documentation, including ISDA Master Agreements, credit support annexes for initial and variation margin, master confirmations, and related agreements. The role will also advise on regulatory requirements affecting derivatives transactions, including uncleared margin rules and other applicable frameworks, and will draft and negotiate securities financing documentation such as MRAs and MSLAs. The successful candidate will help develop and maintain standardized templates and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across Credit, Market Risk, Collateral, Operations, and related functions to address legal, documentation, and risk considerations.

The ideal candidate will have a US ABA-accredited law degree and will be expected to hold US State Bar admission. Experience is expected to include drafting, negotiating, and advising on equity derivatives and structured notes documentation, ideally gained in-house supporting an equity derivatives desk at an investment bank, with prior experience at a large US law firm being preferred. The role requires a strong understanding of securities laws as they relate to equity derivatives, demonstrated experience advising on margin loans and structured notes transactions, and strong drafting and negotiation skills with the ability to simplify legal advice for multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced setting.
