The client seeks an Engineering Director to lead and oversee engineering design and commissioning project activities. This is a direct hire role with a hybrid work model, combining onsite and remote work, based in Orlando, Florida. The Engineering Director will direct operation, planning, organization, control, integration, and completion efforts for engineering design and commissioning work aligned to client requirements.
Key responsibilities include leading engineering projects, including design and commissioning activities, while ensuring delivery against project schedules. The role manages a team of project managers, engineers, technical staff, commissioning agents, and technicians, delegating work based on expertise and project needs to support efficient task distribution and accountability. The Engineering Director will review engineering designs and process specifications for accuracy and regulatory compliance, approve engineering documentation and standards, coordinate with stakeholders for effective resource use and execution, and maintain strong relationships with clients and vendors while identifying new business opportunities through successful delivery.
The position expects travel of approximately 30% to job sites and office locations, including locations under construction and meetings, along with attending job site meetings, conducting site inspections, and verifying project progress and safety protocols. Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year program, or an acceptable alternative in Engineering Technology or Construction Management; a minimum level of experience in project management (as either a Project Manager or within the industry); proficiency with common Microsoft productivity tools and project management software; and a Professional Engineering License. The Engineering Director should have strong verbal and written communication skills, be detail-oriented with the ability to multitask, be adaptable to a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate the ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams.
