As the client’s Engineering Director, you will direct and oversee end-to-end engineering project activities, including planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering design and commissioning work. You will use functional authority to guide operational execution and ensure projects support client requirements and established schedules.
You will lead engineering projects covering both design and commissioning, reviewing engineering designs, process specifications, and commissioning standards for accuracy and regulatory compliance. You will manage and coordinate a team of project managers, engineers, technical staff, commissioning agents, and technicians, delegate work based on expertise and project needs, and ensure efficient resource utilization through coordination with key stakeholders. You will also review and approve engineering documentation, standards, and process procedures, support project timelines and quality expectations, and maintain relationships with clients and vendors while helping identify new business opportunities through successful delivery.
The role is expected to involve travel of approximately 30% of the time to job sites and office locations, including under-construction sites and meetings, where you will attend site meetings, perform site inspections, and verify project progress and safety protocols. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or acceptable alternatives such as engineering technology or construction management), strong communication skills, attention to detail, adaptability, and knowledge of relevant industry standards. Experience is expected at a leadership level in project management, along with proficiency in common productivity and project planning tools, a professional engineering license, and the ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams.
