The client seeks a nationally recognized, visionary Division Director for Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep, and Occupational Medicine within the Department of Medicine. This is an opportunity to lead a large, diverse academic division supported by a statewide health system, during a period of major organizational growth associated with two major hospitals merging and the opening of a new facility.
Reporting to the Chair of Medicine, the Division Director will advance the division’s tripartite mission by optimizing clinical care, expanding discovery through basic, translational, clinical, and health services research, and supporting education for students, residents, and postdoctoral fellows. The role includes mentoring and recruiting strong faculty, staff, and trainees, and guiding administrative, budgetary, and philanthropic efforts while strengthening alignment between the academic mission and clinical growth. The successful leader will be expected to foster innovation and inclusion, and to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a matrixed environment.
The role requires an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree, with board certification in pulmonary, critical care, and/or sleep medicine. The successful candidate will have a record appropriate for appointment at the rank of associate or full professor within the division, and will be expected to provide respected physician leadership and demonstrate a strong commitment to research and the education of emerging specialists.
