The client is seeking a Director for its Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. This key clinical and administrative leadership role will guide the division in balancing and advancing the academic mission across clinical care, education, and research. The Director will be expected to provide leadership and mentorship to research and clinical faculty, as well as fellows, residents, and medical students, while serving as an ambassador for both the division and department.
Responsibilities include sustaining and growing the division’s programs, promoting excellence and advancement in maternal-fetal clinical care, and strengthening teaching and research activities. The Director will support a collaborative, collegial work environment aligned with the department’s commitment to academic excellence and diversity, equity, and inclusivity, and will advise department leadership while leading by example. There is also interest in candidates with prior experience leading maternity/obstetrics services, and with demonstrated national professional leadership and ongoing scholarly contributions.
Candidates must hold an MD, DO, or equivalent degree, be board certified and practicing as a Maternal-Fetal Medicine subspecialist, and have or be eligible for the appropriate California medical license or equivalent certification/permit. The role requires demonstrated leadership experience in academic medicine, clinical practice, or professional societies, along with at least 5 years of leadership experience at a division level or in major programmatic areas and at least 5 years of experience in an academic medical center. Preferred attributes include a strong publication record and preference for extramural funding, along with skills in building trust with diverse internal and external constituencies and recognition across clinical, translational, and/or basic research, including an active research profile; a degree in Clinical Research may be preferred.
