Description

The client is seeking a Director Urban Resilience & Data Expert to lead technical assistance and capacity-building initiatives focused on strengthening urban infrastructure systems and enhancing data-driven decision-making across member countries. The Director will be responsible for overseeing risk and vulnerability assessments of urban systems, supporting the application of innovative urban infrastructure solutions, and guiding the development of digital platforms such as the Global Infrastructure Risk Model and Resilience Index. Additionally, the Director will lead capacity development efforts, build partnerships with academic and technical institutions, and represent the client in global dialogues and stakeholder engagements.

Qualified candidates will have a Masters degree in relevant technical disciplines such as urban planning, engineering, or disaster risk management, with at least 15 years of professional experience and 6 years in leadership roles. Candidates with international education and experience working in multiple countries and UN regions are preferred. Strong technical leadership in disaster risk reduction, urban resilience, infrastructure design, and smart systems is required, along with experience in managing urban resilience and infrastructure initiatives involving data systems, risk analytics, or technology platforms.

The Director will play a key role in advancing the client's strategic outcomes, including building a strong coalition for disaster resilient infrastructure, promoting risk-informed policy and practice, and enhancing capacities for post-disaster recovery and resilience action at scale. This position offers the opportunity to lead innovative projects, collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, and contribute to global efforts to ensure the resilience of infrastructure systems against climate and disaster risks.
