Description

The Executive Director position seeks a dynamic leader to guide the client in its mission to expand debate programming in underserved schools and communities.

The client, a national nonprofit established in 2004, supports a network of 20 Urban Debate Leagues across the United States, impacting over 12,000 middle and high school students annually. By promoting debate, the client aims to develop critical thinking, communication skills, and confidence among students, empowering them to succeed academically and prepare for their future careers.

The clients mission is to amplify youth voices, support college readiness, and prepare future leaders through rigorous and competitive debate programs.

The clients network primarily serves students from under-resourced communities, who are often faced with educational and economic hurdles. During the challenges of the pandemic, the client worked persistently to elevate debate activities, providing an essential outlet and community for students.

The impact of the clients work is evident in key outcomes: debaters demonstrate a 70% higher likelihood of graduating on time, boast a 96% college enrollment plan among seniors, and achieve marked advances in literacy, critical thinking, and academic performance. Alumni programs further support career readiness and civic engagement, fostering a new generation of diverse leaders.

The client's vision for the future involves continuing to be a national leader in the debate movement, equipping students with essential life skills such as critical thinking, communication, and collaboration. The ultimate goal is for all participating youth to graduate high school as engaged civic leaders with expanded opportunities for college and career success.

The ideal Executive Director will have the opportunity to drive the clients growth and national visibility, championing the expansion of debate education as an avenue for empowerment and opportunity for underserved students.
