The client is seeking a Director of Philanthropy to maintain an assigned portfolio of partners, with a focus on donors in British Columbia and Alberta. The role is responsible for planning and executing major gifts engagement strategies, including identifying prospective individual and corporate partners and directly soliciting multi-year commitments. As part of a national team, the Director will work collaboratively with remote colleagues and partners while advancing a structured approach to prospect review and pipeline management.
Key responsibilities include cultivating and directly soliciting prospective donors and corporate partners, promoting increased partner engagement (including planned giving), and preparing proposals, pitch decks, gift agreements, reports, and other written correspondence. The Director will tailor stewardship plans, provide milestone updates and impact reporting, and ensure appropriate invitations to engage with the organization, along with timely handling of charitable tax receipt processes. The role also includes maintaining and updating the donor database and accurately recording donor interactions, proposals, and actions.
The ideal candidate will bring strong relational and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of one-on-one donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. They should be a creative and strategic thinker with excellent verbal and written communication and strong presentation skills, capable of building trust and rapport with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency with digital technologies used to support remote engagement (such as video conferencing) is expected, along with effective time management and the ability to assess and solve problems as they arise.
