The client is a nonprofit organization that supports and empowers America’s athletes and helps field U.S. teams for multiple Olympic and Paralympic Games. It also supports a network of National Governing Bodies of Sport and provides high-performance services and direct athlete support to help offset training, travel, and competition costs. The client relies on philanthropic support and sponsors and has established a dedicated fundraising foundation to grow major-gift giving as a strategic priority.
The client is expanding its philanthropy team with a Director, Philanthropic Giving–Northeast role that focuses on building major-gift support across the Northeast, with an emphasis on New York City. This is an entrepreneurial, build-oriented position rather than stewardship of an established book of business. The Director will report to the Regional Director, Philanthropic Giving–East, and will identify, cultivate, and develop a portfolio of major-gift prospects from the ground up, moving donors from initial introductions through cultivation and toward closed gifts.
The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of successful fundraising experience in a nonprofit environment and a proven track record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing $250,000+ gifts while meeting significant revenue goals. The role requires strong relationship-building and prospect development skills, including the ability to open doors independently and create momentum in a market with substantial growth potential. The client supports long-term fundraising efforts tied to upcoming Games and will look for a candidate who can help build a durable base of major donors over time.
