The client seeks a seasoned, strategic academic nurse administrator to serve as the Director of the School of Nursing. This is a 12-month administrative, non-teaching role. The Director will oversee administrative and academic program functions, including program evolution and innovation, strategic alignment with institutional priorities, system- and state-level engagement, clinical-site partnerships, accreditation efforts, and faculty and staff mentorship.
As the lead administrator, the Director will manage administrative, planning, and budgetary matters for both a main campus and a satellite campus. The role includes professionally developing, supporting, and mentoring tenure-track faculty, clinical faculty, and lecturers; evaluating and evolving academic programs to align with best practice, accreditation standards, and market demand; and supporting student success. The Director will directly supervise Associate Directors and administrative staff, lead and empower faculty, and foster a culture that enables new initiatives and pilot programs.
The Director will build and nurture collaborative relationships with clinical placement sites, community college partners, enrollment source institutions, and community partners, including coordination related to program delivery through extended learning. The role also supports system-wide and statewide conversations on nursing policy and legislation affecting nurses and nursing education, and leads strategic planning for the school. Candidates are expected to have experience in academic administration with strong curricular and program development, assessment, and evaluation background, a commitment to nursing education excellence, dedication to student success and retention, experience mentoring and empowering faculty, and the ability to collaborate within shared governance in a diverse environment.
