The client is seeking an accomplished, visionary leader to serve as Director of the School of Nursing. Reporting directly to the Dean of the College of Behavioral and Health Sciences, the Director will provide strategic academic and administrative leadership to advance the School of Nursing’s mission of preparing the next generation of nursing professionals through excellence in education, research, and service. The Director is expected to support innovative teaching, robust research/creative activity, and meaningful service, including efforts to attract and work with a culturally and academically diverse faculty and student body.
The Director will serve as the School of Nursing’s chief academic and administrative officer, with responsibilities including building and expanding clinical affiliation agreements and clinical rotation sites; leading program innovation in educational delivery and program design; overseeing curriculum quality, program development, accreditation compliance, and continuous program evaluation; and recruiting, mentoring, and supporting faculty and staff in teaching, practice, research, and service. The role also includes developing and expanding nursing education opportunities such as new program initiatives, advanced degree pathways, and continuing education programs; managing budgets, facilities, and resources; and strengthening community engagement with health care systems, professional organizations, and community partners. In addition, the Director will represent the School of Nursing across the college, university, and broader professional community.
The required qualifications include a PhD or equivalent terminal degree in nursing, nursing education, or nursing science by the appointment date. The role requires cumulative clinical practice experience as a registered nurse, as well as experience in nursing education and administrative and leadership experience in higher education. A current, active, and unencumbered Tennessee Registered Nurse license (or the multistate licensure privilege to practice as a registered nurse in Tennessee) is required. The position is a 12-month appointment with a start date of August 1, 2026, and the role is based in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
