The client seeks an inspiring, strategic, and collaborative leader to serve as Director of the School of Music. Reporting to the Dean of the College of Fine and Applied Arts, the Director will provide vision and leadership that builds on the School’s strengths, drawing on a deep understanding of artistic excellence and academic distinction. The role will help shape the School’s future while supporting a culture of excellence through rigorous scholarship, innovative artistry, inclusive excellence, and meaningful collaboration.
As Director, the successful candidate will lead the School in preparing the next generation of performers, creators, scholars, and educators. The Director will work to advance student development in artistic voice, intellectual curiosity, and professional skills, leveraging distinguished faculty and opportunities for collaboration within the broader college and campus community. The role includes guiding interdisciplinary initiatives related to performance, technology, design, public engagement, and civic life, and strengthening connections between academic study and contemporary musical culture.
The Director will lead faculty, staff, and students in delivering a forward-looking, engaged, and entrepreneurial model of music study that expands pathways for creativity, supports diverse musical traditions, and enhances the School’s impact.
