Description

The Director position involves overseeing a nationally recognized faculty and expanding research enterprise, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and shaping the preparation of future scholars and leaders in the justice system. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide strategic leadership to a premier criminology and criminal justice program during a period of institutional strength and growth. As the chief academic and administrative officer, the Director is responsible for providing vision, strategic direction, and operational oversight to ensure excellence in teaching, research, and service. This includes leading faculty and staff, overseeing curriculum development, ensuring compliance with institutional policies, and making decisions related to budgeting, resource allocation, and personnel.Additionally, the Director serves as a key member of the dean's executive team to advance the goals of the College of Public Affairs and Community Service. The School of Criminology and Criminal Justice (SCCJ) offers undergraduate degree programs on multiple campuses of the University of Nebraska system, as well as nationally ranked graduate degrees and certificates. The Director also oversees two research units, the Nebraska Center for Justice Research and the Juvenile Justice Institute, within the SCCJ. The SCCJ is one of five academic units within the College of Public Affairs and Community Service, which also includes Aviation, Gerontology, Public Administration, Social Work, and several research units. The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) is located in the heart of Nebraska's largest metropolitan area and is one of four campuses of the University of Nebraska system.
