Description

The client is a volunteer-led, not-for-profit organization promoting inclusion, visibility, equality, and the celebration of LGBTQIA+ people. It organizes an annual Pride festival and delivers year-round community and advocacy activities, working with local partners, volunteers, and supporters. As the organization grows, it is seeking Directors to join its Board to strengthen governance, community impact, and long-term sustainability, with a potential opportunity for an experienced candidate to step into a Chair role.

This is a voluntary, non-executive Board role. Directors are expected to help set and guide strategic direction, support planning and organizational development, and ensure the organization operates in a well-governed and transparent manner aligned with best practices. Responsibilities include contributing to the rollout and execution of the organization’s strategic plan for 2026–2029, ensuring compliance with relevant legal, financial, and regulatory requirements, and actively participating in monthly Board meetings held online.

Directors will also serve as ambassadors and representatives within the local community, helping foster relationships with local partners, sponsors, and community groups and advocating for the needs, visibility, and rights of LGBTQIA+ people. They will provide oversight and guidance for planning committees for the annual Pride festival and year-round activities, support and collaborate with volunteer teams, and contribute relevant skills such as HR, marketing, legal, event management, or community work. For those interested in the Chair position, additional responsibilities may include leading Board meetings, acting as a primary spokesperson, and providing overarching leadership to ensure effective and cohesive Board functioning; training in charity governance and Board responsibilities will be provided, and the Board encourages applications from candidates with lived experience as LGBTQI+ community members.
