The client seeks a dynamic, innovative, collaborative Director of the Library to help reimagine a historical medical library for the next century and increase engagement with its rich holdings within the institution and beyond. Reporting to the President and CEO and serving on the leadership team, the Director will establish the Library as a pillar of engagement and build it into a “library of the future,” creating and implementing a vision and strategic priorities aligned with the institution’s mission to advance health for all.
The Director will use innovative organizational principles and technological advances to increase access and disseminate knowledge that supports population health. In addition to overall leadership, the role is expected to guide the adoption and effective use of digital tools, strengthen integration of library and archival resources, and support strategies that enhance access to and visibility of collections.
Strong candidates will have a clear, forward vision for the future of a historical medical library in an independent institutional research environment, with management experience in a library or cultural heritage setting. Required qualifications include a Master’s degree in library or information science (or a relevant discipline), progressive managerial experience, and demonstrated, current use of digital technologies to enhance and feature library collections.
