The client is seeking a Director of Tax to lead domestic and international tax strategy, compliance, planning, and risk management across U.S. and international operations. This executive will oversee partnership taxation, international tax strategy, tax technology, tax governance, and team leadership, partnering with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, business transactions, global expansion, and tax optimization opportunities.
Responsibilities include managing U.S. federal, state, local, and international tax compliance and reporting, including income, sales/use, payroll, property, VAT, and other indirect tax requirements. The role will review partnership tax returns and partner reporting processes, oversee estimated payments and related partnership items such as tax distributions, composite filings, withholding requirements, and pass-through entity elections, and advise on partner-related tax matters. The Director of Tax will also develop and execute international tax planning, provide guidance on transfer pricing, cross-border structures, treaty utilization, and foreign entity taxation, support global mobility and expatriate-related tax considerations, and help assess impacts of legislative and regulatory developments.
The Director of Tax will lead tax risk management and governance by managing audits, examinations, notices, and controversy matters, establishing tax governance frameworks and internal controls, maintaining reserves and documentation, and overseeing voluntary disclosures and remediation when necessary. The position will build and mentor the tax team, manage relationships with external advisors, and drive tax technology and process improvement efforts in coordination with Finance, Accounting, Payroll, Benefits, and executive stakeholders. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a CPA strongly preferred and advanced tax-focused credentials such as a Master’s in Taxation, JD, or LL.M. in Taxation preferred; candidates should have 12+ years of progressively responsible tax experience across public accounting and corporate/in-house leadership, with strong partnership taxation, multistate tax, and international tax experience (including transfer pricing and cross-border planning), as well as demonstrated leadership in developing and managing tax teams.
