the client is seeking a Director of Student Accounts to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for student billing and related student financial services. this role will manage core functions including student account administration, accounts receivable, and cashiering, while supporting a student-centered, service-oriented atmosphere. the director is expected to facilitate effective processes and collaboration across multiple divisions to ensure accurate, compliant administration of student account workflows that help advance enrollment, reenrollment, retention, and broader student success goals.
the director will lead the student accounts team and work closely with partners such as financial aid, the registrar’s office, finance, admissions, and other campus stakeholders to deliver a seamless and well-coordinated enrollment services experience. responsibilities include strengthening service delivery, improving operational workflows, identifying opportunities for automation, and supporting the thoughtful use of technology to enhance student services and administrative processes. the role requires sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive financial and personal information, along with the ability to analyze and interpret complex financial, regulatory, and policy information to make informed decisions.
required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field, as well as progressive experience in higher education student accounts, bursar operations, or related financial administration. demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing professional staff is required, along with advanced proficiency in microsoft excel and strong interpersonal and communication skills. technical competence is expected to include the ability to understand both detailed transactions and broader institutional financial processes, and experience demonstrating regulatory compliance related to college bursar operations is required. preferred qualifications may include a master’s degree and additional progressive experience in similar higher education roles.
