The client is seeking a senior Director of Sports to set and deliver the overall sporting strategy across performance and participation programmes in a high-profile, multi-sport environment in Hong Kong. This leadership role is responsible for shaping elite and community sport pathways, guiding coaching and performance teams, and ensuring a culture focused on excellence, growth, and sustainable success.
Key responsibilities include providing strategic and operational leadership across sports programmes; developing and implementing long-term plans to grow participation, performance, and sporting offerings; and overseeing the effective management and utilisation of sports facilities to support safe, high-quality delivery. The Director of Sports will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver a broad range of sports activities and events, drive initiatives that enhance engagement and satisfaction, manage departmental budgets with cost-effective operations, and lead, develop, and mentor a diverse team of sports and operations professionals.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in the leisure, travel, tourism, or broader sports institution sector, ideally within a member-focused sports club or similar setting, along with demonstrated sports leadership experience and proven capability running sports programmes and managing sports facilities or multi-site operations. They should bring strong organisational, leadership, and financial management skills; a commitment to delivering exceptional customer and member experiences; sound knowledge of safety standards, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance; and effective communication and stakeholder management abilities across athletes, staff, partners, and relevant governing bodies.
