The client is seeking a Director of Sporting & Commercial Analytics to lead the creation and expansion of its analytics capabilities and support data-driven decision-making. The role will help define and implement a centralized operating model for analytics and act as an AI champion, driving an organization-wide roadmap for AI adoption. This position requires deep analytical expertise, strong leadership, a hands-on mindset, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and clear narratives for senior management.
Key responsibilities include serving as the figurehead for analytics across both sporting and commercial functions, leading execution of the broader data and analytics strategy in partnership with the technology team, and guiding the organization’s approach to AI. The director will establish and enhance reporting frameworks for senior management, lead high-impact reactive and proactive analysis, and apply advanced analytics and machine learning to extract insights from large datasets and support future scenario modeling. The role also involves developing scalable data cleaning, transformation, and analysis pipelines, expanding data visualization and self-service dashboard capabilities for stakeholders, and acting as a liaison with internal teams, external partners, and global stakeholders.
The director will support departmental budgeting and forecasting to ensure analytics investments align with clear business outcomes. Required competencies include innovative, forward-thinking leadership; strategic alignment of analytics initiatives to organizational priorities; credible technical direction across data architecture and advanced analytics and AI/ML to enable effective collaboration; and strong communication skills to convey complex information clearly to senior stakeholders. The role also emphasizes resilience and adaptability in fast-paced environments, stakeholder relationship management across diverse global groups, and change leadership to embed data-driven ways of working and drive tangible improvements. Qualifications include 8–10+ years of experience in analytics or data science, including experience managing and integrating large, complex data initiatives.
