The client is seeking an experienced Director of Service to oversee commercial and industrial HVAC and Plumbing service operations, including maintenance, warranty, repair, and service-related projects within the Pittsburgh, PA market. This strategic leadership role will influence operational performance, customer relationships, and long-term service growth, with responsibility for guiding service management through day-to-day execution and continuous improvement.
The Director of Service will mentor and manage service managers, supervisors, and field service teams; set performance goals; and champion safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include overseeing scheduling and dispatch, ensuring timely field execution and warranty delivery, developing service policies and best practices, collaborating with construction, project management, and sales teams to support seamless operations, serving as the senior escalation point for service issues, and monitoring service performance metrics and customer satisfaction data.
The role includes business and operational ownership such as managing the service department budget, driving profitability through margin tracking, cost controls, forecasting, and performance analytics, and identifying opportunities for service line growth, upselling, and recurring revenue. Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience, strong knowledge of service, maintenance, and warranty operations, and demonstrated experience managing teams, budgets, and complex workflows, along with excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills; experience in commercial construction or specialty trades (HVAC, Plumbing) is expected.
