Description

The client Director of Research and Evaluation leads the district’s research, evaluation, and analytic reporting functions within the Data, Research, Evaluation, and Assessment (DREA) division. The role supports instructional leadership, improved student outcomes, and evidence-based decision-making, and is supervised by the Chief Accountability Officer. The Director ensures analytic products and evaluation reports are completed on time and communicated clearly, while maintaining continuity of ongoing work and responding to emerging district priorities.

The client oversees the planning, execution, quality assurance, and delivery of research studies, program evaluations, and analytic reports aligned to district priorities. Responsibilities include managing district insight reporting, administering and governing a survey platform, creating and maintaining interactive data reports and other data requests (including ad hoc requests and recurring reporting), and providing staff training to support effective use of data tools. The Director establishes work plans, timelines, and deliverables; supervises, hires, and evaluates assigned staff; balances new requests with existing commitments; manages workload and capacity; and elevates concerns and recommended trade-offs to the Chief of DREA. The role also coordinates with internal partners to align timelines, clarify roles, and prevent duplicative or conflicting work.

The client leads the design and execution of program evaluations, including logic model development, methodological approach selection, data collection, analysis, and reporting. The Director serves as chair of the Internal Review Board (IRB), ensuring compliance with FERPA, PPRA, and district research governance standards, and monitors external research partners to ensure alignment with district goals, approved protocols, and agreed timelines. The Director translates complex research findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences, participates in departmental planning and progress monitoring, and represents the district with external agencies and professional organizations related to research, evaluation, and data use.
