The client seeks a Director of Research and Evaluation to lead the district’s research, evaluation, and analytic reporting functions within the Data, Research, Evaluation, and Assessment (DREA) division. The role supports instructional leadership, improved student outcomes, and evidence-based decision-making, and is directly supervised by the Chief Accountability Officer. The director ensures timely completion and clear communication of analytic products and evaluation reports, maintains continuity of ongoing work, responds to emerging district priorities, and coordinates across departments to manage capacity, scope, and prioritization.
Key responsibilities include leading and managing research studies, program evaluations, and analytic reports from planning through execution, quality assurance, and on-time delivery. The director oversees district insight reporting and the ongoing administration and governance of a survey platform, and is responsible for creating, maintaining, documenting, and updating interactive data reports and other data requests, including dashboards, progress monitoring tools, analytic code, and ad hoc requests. The director also establishes work plans, timelines, and deliverables; provides training to support effective use of data tools; and supervises, hires, and evaluates assigned staff by setting performance expectations, monitoring progress, providing feedback and coaching, and ensuring accountability for quality and timeliness.
The director balances new requests with existing commitments, proactively manages workload and capacity, elevating concerns and recommended trade-offs to the Chief of DREA as needed, and coordinates with internal partners to prevent duplicative or conflicting work. The role oversees the design and execution of program evaluations, including logic model development, methodology, data collection, analysis, and reporting, and serves as chair of the internal review board to ensure compliance with applicable privacy and research governance standards. The director translates complex findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences, participates in planning and progress monitoring, and represents the district with external agencies and professional organizations related to research, evaluation, and data use. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; additional qualifications and years of experience are expected based on the needs of the function.
