the client is seeking a Director of Recruiting & Employee Success to build and lead human-centered HR functions that support field crews and professional staff as the company scales. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role focused on shaping systems, culture, and people practices that enable sustainable growth while maintaining a value-driven, safety-first environment. The role will operate as part of the executive leadership team and partner closely with functions such as finance, operations, and business development.
Key responsibilities include leading talent acquisition and developing a continuous recruiting engine for both craft and salaried roles, including improving time-to-hire while strengthening candidate quality and experience. The director will establish and scale internship and early talent pipelines, and develop innovative sourcing strategies that may include referrals and partnerships. Additional responsibilities cover designing structured onboarding, building clear career pathways for field and office staff, and leading performance management systems, as well as supporting leadership development across crew leads, project managers, and emerging managers.
The director will also champion safety and compliance by partnering with field leadership to align HR practices with job site realities, and by ensuring adherence to relevant multi-state employment and labor requirements. They will serve as a trusted advisor on sensitive employee relations and workplace issues, and will partner with leadership to shape culture and improve employee experience through engagement, communication, recognition, and company events. The role further includes scaling HR operations and systems for growth, using data and analytics to inform hiring and retention decisions, and coordinating with finance on payroll and workforce forecasting to support planning.
