The client is seeking a senior Director of Production to lead all technical and producing aspects of its non-traditional, environmental theatre productions. Working closely with the Artistic Director and Executive Director, this role will supervise the Technical Director, Technical Specialist, and a Patron Relations Manager, and will serve as a critical connector between artistic and administrative teams to ensure complex projects are successfully realized. the Director of Production will be a highly motivated, collaborative leader who communicates effectively, jumps in to solve problems, and brings a broad range of technical theatre and producing knowledge to each stage of the production process.
Key responsibilities include managing logistics for planning, building, and running environmental productions, including coordinating artists and crews, and ensuring productions follow union and other safety requirements. the role will serve as the primary interface with Actors Equity to ensure rules and regulations are adhered to, support the Artistic Director in identifying production locations and assembling artists and crew, and help manage casting efforts with assistance from the Patron Relations Manager. the Director of Production will develop and manage production budgets and reporting in conjunction with the Executive Director, pursue cost-effective sourcing and procurement, and lead or support contracting processes related to Actors Equity.
the Director of Production will partner closely with the Technical Director and Technical Specialist to oversee successful technical installation, operation, and build execution, and will maintain culturally informed, respectful, and innovative workplace practices. the role will also provide logistical and production management support for special events as determined with the Executive Director, and will create and implement a robust internship program with support from the Technical Director. the position supports growth across the breadth of responsibilities and is expected to help bring the visions of directors and designers to life while ensuring venues can safely and comfortably accommodate audiences.
