The Director of Product Development and Sourcing will be part of the client’s leadership team and work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and leadership team to identify, articulate, and implement product development and sourcing improvements needed for business growth. This role manages day-to-day product development operations and will act as a trusted partner to run product development activities, including supplier relations, development, testing, quality control, and post-sale warranty to support scalability and incremental profitability.
The Director will directly manage a product development and management team and help build scalable product development and sourcing infrastructure to support growth. The role is expected to leverage existing teams in Colorado and Taiwan and expand teams as needed, with leadership of a team of 5+ people. Key responsibilities include translating product strategy into actionable goals and performance management, improving and establishing product development processes, creating measurement tools to gauge internal and external process efficiency, and evaluating and implementing PLM/document control to support scaling objectives.
The ideal candidate has significant experience in the bicycle or outdoor industry, with strong skills working in Asia and managing global product development teams. The role is expected to support scaling an early growth-stage company to a larger organization, with a clear understanding of development and sourcing requirements and how to optimize product development and sourcing to drive efficiency and brand elevation through high-quality, innovative products. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent demonstrated experience (master’s preferred) and at least 8 years of product development experience in cycling, including working with global manufacturers in China/Taiwan, along with the ability to work closely with detailed data, prioritize and execute effectively, think creatively with limited resources, and demonstrate leadership in organizational and personnel development.
