the client is seeking a Director of Philanthropy to lead the development and execution of strategic fundraising programs. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the role will help drive organizational growth by cultivating a robust donor pipeline, strengthening donor relationships, and ensuring exemplary stewardship. The Director of Philanthropy will collaborate closely with the Executive Director and other key stakeholders to maintain consistent messaging and seamless integration across fundraising initiatives.
Responsibilities include leading donor engagement for major and mid-level donors, managing stewardship, and developing prospect management strategies to identify new funding and partnership opportunities. The role will also collaborate with donor care representatives to ensure consistent expertise and messaging, implement fundraising best practices and quality standards, and establish and manage fundraising revenue targets while tracking progress through benchmarks and KPIs. In addition, the Director of Philanthropy will support strategic leadership and operational management by assisting with the annual department budget, aligning department strategies with the organization’s strategic plan, and providing regular progress updates and trend analysis to the Executive Director.
The successful candidate will have a university degree or post-secondary diploma in a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) and at least 5+ years of senior leadership experience in Canadian non-profit management with a record of measurable results. The role typically requires extensive knowledge of Jewish and evangelical communities and their leadership in Canada, along with experience in the non-profit sector, ideally within a faith-based organization. The Director of Philanthropy will demonstrate the ability to lead high-performing teams and support effective collaboration, and will promote best practices in data management and donor communications while ensuring compliance with applicable gift acceptance, accounting, acknowledgment, and donor management guidelines.
