Description

The client is seeking a Director of People ; Culture, a strategic leader responsible for shaping and advancing people strategy, organizational culture, and employee experience. Serving as a trusted advisor to the executive team, this role oversees the employee lifecycle and fosters a workplace culture that reflects the client’s mission and commitment to serving diverse communities. The director will partner with leadership to attract, develop, engage, and retain talented employees and help ensure the organization remains high-performing, inclusive, and mission-driven.

Key responsibilities include developing and implementing people strategies that align with the client’s mission and organizational goals, advising on workforce planning, organizational structure, succession planning, and talent development, and assessing organizational needs to strengthen employee engagement and effectiveness. The role leads change management initiatives and supports leaders during periods of organizational growth and transition, and oversees recruitment, onboarding, performance management, career development, and offboarding. The director will also develop strategies to attract, engage, and retain high-performing, mission-aligned talent, monitor workforce trends to strengthen employer branding and talent pipelines, and ensure a positive, inclusive employee experience that supports belonging, collaboration, and well-being.

The director will champion a people-centered culture by designing and implementing learning, leadership development, and professional growth opportunities for employees and managers, and by fostering leadership capability through coaching and mentorship. This includes leading employee engagement efforts, assessing organizational culture for continuous improvement, and establishing consistent channels for staff feedback with timely follow-through. Additionally, the role provides expert guidance on employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, and sensitive personnel matters, promotes fair and legally compliant employment practices, and supports respectful, high-performing teams; the director also serves as a subject matter expert on employment laws and helps maintain and regularly review HR policies and procedures.
