The client is seeking a Director of People and Culture to lead visible, values-driven change and strengthen workplace culture so colleagues feel heard, valued, supported, and included. This leadership role goes beyond traditional HR responsibilities, focusing on improving everyday experience and helping shape an employee value proposition that attracts, develops, and retains people in a competitive environment. The Director will work as part of the Executive Team and is expected to modernise approaches to workforce and culture while ensuring colleagues can belong and thrive.
In addition to leading within the client, the role is expected to extend beyond organisational boundaries to provide senior professional leadership across Subnational West arrangements. The Director will support system-level workforce strategy in partnership with senior executives, national stakeholders, and trade union and professional organisations. This work will require influencing national workforce policy, shaping shared strategies, supporting sustainable services, and fostering collective leadership across organisational, geographical, and professional boundaries, including delivering change without direct line management.
The Director of People and Culture will be a key member of the Corporate Management Team and lead a large People and Culture Directorate covering workforce planning and recruitment, organisational development, wellbeing, and employee relations. The client is looking for an authentic, visible leader with board-level experience and a strong track record of delivering change, able to translate strategy into action. The role requires credibility, compassion, and collaboration, along with a commitment to improving staff experience and tackling inequality.
