Description

the client is seeking a Director of Operations to join its leadership team and serve as an operational driver for its mission to support and advocate for long-term care across Ontario. This high-impact role sits at the intersection of strategy, people, and process, blending financial leadership, human resources strategy, and organizational effectiveness to strengthen the operational foundation of the organization.

As the hub for finance and human resources functions, the Director of Operations will lead efforts to streamline processes, enhance reporting clarity, and improve operational backbone. Responsibilities include leading audit and finance committee work such as setting terms of reference, supporting work plans, managing meetings, preparing chair briefings and materials, coordinating information for external auditors, and overseeing implementation of auditor recommendations. The role also prepares and presents financial materials for the board and key committees, supports reporting and presentation preparation for annual and members’ meetings, oversees the operating budget including forecasting, expenditure tracking, and audit compliance, and delivers regular financial insights to the senior team. The director will establish and enforce financial policies, procedures, and internal controls, manage investment strategies and cash flow, oversee insurance policies and risk management strategies, and improve and simplify supplier relationship processes with alignment across finance, operations, and staff.

The client also expects the Director of Operations to bring a solutions-oriented, detail-oriented approach while maintaining a strong view of the broader needs of the sector and the organization. The position is supported by a collaborative, trust-based team environment with a service mindset focused on members, and it will typically require the ability to manage multiple priorities, provide leadership, and partner effectively across functions to support people and organizational performance.
