The client is seeking a senior leader within the Development Department to serve as Director of Institutional Support. This externally facing role leads foundation and corporate fundraising efforts, with a focus on strengthening and expanding corporate and foundation support. The position is expected to engage proactively with existing corporate donors, foundations, and sponsors while also cultivating new sources of support, using strong strategic thinking, writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Key responsibilities include managing and growing the corporate giving program by developing strategies to increase revenue from current donors and to expand the donor pipeline through new prospect identification and engagement. The role will oversee a substantial portfolio of corporate funders and prospects through regular outreach, including calls and in-person meetings, with a goal of meaningful touchpoints on an ongoing basis. It will also research, identify, track, and solicit institutional prospects to support a range of initiatives, including core programming, learning and community engagement, special projects, events, and touring-related efforts.
The Director of Institutional Support will mentor and supervise corporate support leadership, ensuring high-quality prospect research, proposals/applications, sponsorship activations, delivery of recognition and benefits, and timely interim and final reporting. The role includes collaborating with senior staff and leadership to improve corporate prospecting and relationship management, represent the client in external community partnerships, and help develop sponsor-facing experiences that meet sponsor needs. In addition, the director will oversee foundation funding by managing relationships and preparing leadership for key meetings, supervise senior foundation and government support leadership, and assist with departmental budgeting, forecasting, and reporting as needed.
