The client is seeking a Director of Institutional Partnerships, a senior leadership role within the Advancement Department responsible for leading institutional fundraising strategy with a primary focus on foundation, corporate, and public-sector philanthropy. The Director will cultivate, secure, and steward institutional investments that support the organization’s mission, strategic priorities, capital projects, environmental initiatives, and community programs. Reporting to the Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer, the Director will also support government relations efforts by strengthening relationships with elected officials, public agencies, and regional stakeholders tied to public funding and advocacy priorities.
The Director will oversee institutional giving end to end, including prospect development, relationship management, grant strategy, proposal development, stewardship, and institutional reporting. Responsibilities include leading a comprehensive fundraising strategy, managing and growing a portfolio of institutional funders and strategic partners to meet annual goals, and identifying and pursuing new opportunities aligned with organizational programs and operational needs. The Director will manage grant systems and processes such as grant calendars, reporting deadlines, stewardship activities, and CRM tracking, and will collaborate with program and finance staff to support strong proposal development, compliance, and impact reporting.
The role also includes supporting external affairs and government relations related to public funding opportunities and strategic partnerships, including maintaining relationships with public stakeholders and assisting with advocacy and government grant opportunities aligned to organizational priorities. The Director will coordinate site visits, tours, announcements, and events involving institutional and government partners, and will collaborate on strategies related to public funding sources such as local and state funding mechanisms and federal grants. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience) and at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in institutional fundraising, philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, or related areas, along with strong communication skills and the ability to build meaningful partnerships; leadership experience supervising institutional giving staff and external grant support resources will be expected.
