The client Director of Information Technology provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the organization’s technology environment. Reporting to the Vice President for Finance & Administration, the role ensures secure, reliable, and scalable technology systems that support academic, administrative, and operational goals. The position supervises the information technology team and is responsible for driving technology adoption, collaboration, customer service, and user training across the organization.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing an IT strategic roadmap aligned with institutional priorities, establishing IT governance, policies, standards, and operational procedures, and overseeing major technology projects and digital transformation efforts. The role manages IT budgeting, forecasting, purchasing, vendor relationships, and technology contracts, while leading and supervising IT staff, contractors, consultants, and student workers as applicable. It also provides enterprise applications and data services oversight, including ERP configuration, upgrades, testing, reporting, system integrations, and support for user needs, as well as data governance, database management, and process improvements.
The Director leads institutional cybersecurity and risk management, including cybersecurity strategy, governance, incident response planning, identity and access management, endpoint security, backups, disaster recovery, and monitoring. The role ensures compliance with relevant data and security requirements (including FERPA, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS), coordinates audits, risk assessments, penetration testing, remediation efforts, and vendor security reviews, and supports cybersecurity awareness training. It also oversees day-to-day infrastructure and systems operations—such as servers, networking, virtualization, cloud services, wireless, and telecommunications—as well as helpdesk support and campus technology services, including audiovisual and web/CMS operations and support for classroom and live event technologies; preferred experience includes HIPAA and FER implementation.
