Description

The client is seeking a Director of Global Health who will serve as the senior technical and operational leader for communicable, infectious, and non-communicable disease portfolios. Reporting to the Chief Programs Officer, the Director will set disease strategy, make program and investment choices, ensure technical quality, and lead performance across large, multi-country programs, including establishing a scalable non-communicable disease portfolio through strategy definition, priority setting, investment model selection, pipeline building, and development of the technical, partnership, and performance architecture needed for sustained growth.

This role is responsible for senior operational and technical oversight of programmatic investments in communicable (including infectious) diseases and non-communicable diseases, ensuring coherence with health systems, the health workforce, and health infrastructure priorities. The ideal candidate will have Director-level (or higher) operating scope, demonstrated credibility in the global health community, and substantial experience overseeing programs across multiple countries. The position also requires an established senior network, particularly with governments and philanthropic organizations, along with the ability to exercise sound judgment and act quickly; financial and grants-management capability is expected to support portfolio leadership.

Key expectations include translating The client’s ambitions into an integrated global health strategy with clear priorities for communicable and infectious diseases and NCDs, while connecting disease outcomes to stronger country systems. The Director will build and strengthen portfolio focus so philanthropic capital supports evidence-based programs with credible pathways to scale and sustained impact, and will position The client as a technically credible partner to governments, philanthropies, and global health institutions. The Director will provide the Chief Programs Officer and leadership with authoritative disease intelligence, portfolio decisions, emerging risk insights, and recommendations to support informed action.
