The client is seeking a Director of Foster Care Programs to lead and expand comprehensive foster care services, including respite, kinship, regular, therapeutic, and TFCO levels of care. This role oversees a multi-disciplinary team and works closely with leadership and community stakeholders to ensure program integrity, compliance, and strategic growth while delivering trauma-informed, high-quality support for children and families.
The Director will supervise and support foster care programs to ensure services meet regulatory and safety standards, while maintaining program policies and procedures to align with state and agency requirements. The role also serves as the primary representative with community stakeholders, helping build strong relationships and promote service development and expansion through effective collaboration.
Key qualifications include a Master’s degree in a behavioral health field with relevant experience (or a bachelor’s degree with additional relevant experience) and at least four years of supervisory experience. Experience in child welfare and knowledge of the foster care system are preferred, and NYS licensure in a relevant discipline (such as LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, or LMFT) may be advantageous; the Director will also support staff development, strategic planning, budgeting collaboration, and recruitment and retention efforts for foster families to sustain a strong network of homes for youth in care.
