The client is seeking a Director of Financial Reporting to lead financial reporting standards and ensure information is accurate, trusted, timely, and supportive of strong governance and confident decision-making. Reporting will be provided to the Executive and Board with high-quality, insightful, and practical guidance, helping to align resources with organizational priorities and maximize impact through efficient use of resources. The role also contributes to shaping and delivering the organization’s strategy as part of the Senior Leadership Team.
The Director of Financial Reporting will coordinate financial reporting activities, ensuring audit, tax, and regulatory obligations are met in close partnership with external auditors. The role acts as a trusted expert on budgeting, forecasting, and accounting, providing constructive challenge and sound guidance to colleagues. It also supports effective assurance and control frameworks so reporting remains reliable, with a consistent focus on quality and continuous improvement in how the function works.
The successful applicant will bring senior leadership experience running a high-performing financial reporting and advisory function within a complex, regulated environment. The candidate should be commercially astute, with a track record of improving service delivery and ways of working while enhancing stakeholder experience. They are expected to demonstrate inclusive leadership, strong communication skills to translate complex finance into clear options and recommendations for Executive and Board stakeholders, and relevant qualifications with strong knowledge of FRS 102 and IFRS, including experience producing statutory accounts for a complex group and partnering effectively with external auditors. The position may involve close collaboration with senior finance leadership during a period of change.
