Description

The client is seeking a strategic and collaborative Director of Finance to join its senior leadership team. This role reports directly to the CEO and plays a key part in strengthening the organization’s financial management capabilities, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring corporate objectives are achieved. The Director of Finance will help guide financial strategy during a period of growth and increasing organizational complexity, while contributing to sustainable and competitive pricing approaches for contract research and service offerings.

Key responsibilities include leading the annual budgeting and planning process and partnering with the CEO and senior leadership team on strategic planning and corporate decisions. The role will develop and manage corporate financing strategies, support investor-related financing needs including reporting and information requests, and present financial results to the Board of Directors. The position also supports business growth through financial modeling, scenario analysis, and project-based costing, while partnering with scientific and operational teams to evaluate scopes, cost structures, margins, and resource requirements, and to provide financial input to proposals and revenue projections. It additionally supports procurement and inventory management.

The Director of Finance will manage treasury, cash flow, and liquidity planning, including forecasting, working capital monitoring, and proactive financial risk management, as well as overseeing banking relationships and treasury operations. The role will optimize ERP and financial management systems, strengthen financial reporting tools and analytics to improve operational visibility, and lead and coordinate the annual audit process with external auditors while enhancing audit readiness and internal audit frameworks. It will also help ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements and maintain internal controls aligned with relevant regulatory standards in regulated environments. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of post-CPA experience and progressive finance leadership experience, strong knowledge of corporate finance, accounting, auditing, tax compliance, and revenue recognition, and demonstrated ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights to non-financial stakeholders; experience working with boards and developing pricing models for contract or project-based services is considered an asset.
