The Director of Finance is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and management of the finance and accounting team. This role involves delivering strategic recommendations to the Board and executive management team, as well as managing financial forecasting, budgeting, and the preparation of all necessary financial reports. Additionally, the position includes advising on long-term business and financial planning, ensuring the internal auditing and compliance framework is operational, and offering commercial leadership to help meet business plan targets.
A part of the duties also includes reviewing formal finance, human resources, and IT-related procedures and liaising with external auditors, financial providers, and government agencies for compliance and auditing purposes. The Director of Finance also oversees cash management and reporting and is tasked with the training, development, and supervision of the finance team. The individual in this position is responsible for updating finance systems and processes, maintaining adequate internal controls, and ensuring that monthly financial reports are accurately issued to the Board.
This role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to interact effectively with senior management, the Board, and external parties. The position demands a qualified accountant with credentials such as ACA, CIMA, or ACCA, and ideally a university degree. The position is based at a hotel and necessitates a strong executive presence to fulfill its responsibilities effectively. The candidate should be adept at developing strategies to optimize business operations and performance.
