Description

the client is seeking a Director of Finance to join its leadership team. In this role, you will provide strong financial guidance, support operational discipline, and help drive long-term strategic decision-making by aligning financial management with business goals. You will work closely with ownership and operational leaders, serving as a trusted advisor who translates financial insight into practical direction for the organization.

Key responsibilities include delivering financial leadership and stewardship, providing clear and actionable financial insights, and supporting alignment between day-to-day operations and the client’s long-term vision. You will lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning, and provide timely, accurate financial reporting with explanations geared toward non-financial stakeholders. The role also includes analyzing profitability across multiple business lines, managing cash flow through highly seasonal sales cycles, overseeing inventory financing and customer credit and collections, and maintaining strong relationships with banking and lenders.

The Director of Finance will oversee accounting accuracy, internal controls, audits, tax filings, regulatory reporting, and insurance coordination, while keeping systems practical and efficient. You will lead inventory and cost accounting for seed production and equipment, monitor obsolescence and write-offs, and evaluate margin performance, partnering with operations and sales to improve inventory turns and profitability. You will also lead and mentor a dedicated finance team, establish scalable processes, and promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement; the ideal candidate will typically be a CPA (CA, CMA, or equivalent preferred) with progressive finance leadership experience, strong cost accounting and seasonal cash flow expertise, and demonstrated financial systems knowledge, with additional preference for experience in seed, equipment, or distribution-based businesses and for familiarity with closely held organizations.
