The client is seeking a Director of Finance and Commercial to join the Chief Officer Team at a transformational moment. The role will play a critical part in shaping organisational strategy and decision-making at the highest level, supporting a multi-year vision for the future of public safety through long-term planning and transformation.
Key responsibilities include ensuring financial resilience, integrity, and sustainability; leading a modern, forward-looking finance and commercial function; and driving best value, commercial innovation, and strategic investment decisions. The Director of Finance and Commercial will act as a trusted strategic advisor to senior leadership, working closely and constructively with the Police & Crime Commissioner's Chief Finance Officer to balance robust financial stewardship with ambition and innovation in delivering public services.
The successful applicant will bring significant experience in senior strategic finance leadership, ideally within the public sector or a complex organisation, along with strong commercial acumen to maximise value, manage risk, and drive innovation. They should have a proven ability to influence and operate effectively at executive and board level, experience leading change and contributing to major transformation programmes, and a strong commitment to public service, integrity, and delivering impactful outcomes, combining technical credibility with strategic leadership to keep the organisation financially robust, efficient, and future-focused.
