The client is seeking a Director of Facilities to lead facilities operations for a boarding school campus in Lakeville, Connecticut. The Director will report to the Chief Financial and Operations Officer and will partner with senior school leadership to ensure the campus environment supports and enhances the educational experience. The facilities function operates across building and infrastructure maintenance, improvement, and adaptation to meet operational needs for school programs and activities.
The Director of Facilities will provide operational planning and leadership for a facilities team of approximately 60 people, covering trades such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, vehicle maintenance, housekeeping, and grounds maintenance. The role also includes working with outside third-party vendors, contractors, and service providers. The Director is expected to be an effective collaborator and communicator with campus constituents while identifying strategic initiatives, developing the facilities team, and guiding daily facilities management activities to achieve department goals and objectives.
Key responsibilities include managing building and grounds maintenance, as well as overseeing construction, renovation, repair, and regulatory compliance. The Director will help ensure the campus remains a strategic asset by coordinating with school leadership and the Board of Trustees, and by working with relevant offices to minimize conflicts between operational projects and campus activities while prioritizing projects appropriately. The role will also serve as a liaison with school administration on plant-related matters.
