The Director of the Essential Studies program at our client is responsible for coordinating the program, collaborating with academic units to develop a variety of Essential Studies courses, and working with faculty, staff, and advisors to promote innovative teaching and campus-wide understanding of the program. They also play a key role in communicating the value of the liberal arts and supporting student success through interactions with individual students and the larger campus community. This is a 12-month appointment that includes administrative duties as the director of the Essential Studies program, as well as teaching at least one course each semester within the program or the candidate's disciplinary home department.The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in higher education administration, a strong background in the liberal arts, and a passion for inspiring innovative teaching practices. They should be able to effectively communicate the value of a liberal arts education and support student success through mentorship and guidance. The Director will work closely with faculty, staff, and advisors to ensure the ongoing validation and development of Essential Studies courses, as well as promoting a campus-wide understanding of the program's importance. Additionally, the chosen candidate will be expected to teach courses within the Essential Studies program or their disciplinary home department to contribute to the academic success of students at our client.
