The client is seeking an Engineering Director to lead, oversee, and exercise functional authority across engineering design and commissioning project activities, including planning, organization, control, integration, and completion. The role will direct engineering project delivery, ensuring timely and efficient execution of design and commissioning work.
Key responsibilities include leading and overseeing engineering projects; managing a team of project managers, engineers, commissioning agents, and technicians; delegating tasks based on expertise and project needs; and reviewing and approving engineering designs, specifications, and commissioning standards for accuracy and compliance. The Engineering Director will also maintain client and vendor relationships, support business development efforts based on project success, and develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to meet client and company objectives. On-site and remote coordination will be required, including travel to job sites and attendance at meetings as needed.
The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or an acceptable alternative such as Engineering Technology or Construction Management). Experience is expected at the project management level, with a minimum of 5 years as a Project Manager or at least 15 years in project management within the industry. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project is expected, along with strong presentation and communication skills for marketing and business development. A Professional Engineering License is preferred, and candidates should be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, be willing to travel for approximately 30% of the work time, and perform site visits that may involve walking and climbing stairs.
