the client is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the engineering team and drive strategic initiatives that shape the future of modular construction. In this role, you will set the strategic direction of the engineering department, oversee technical operations, and foster a culture focused on innovation and excellence. You will collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with business goals while delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
Your responsibilities will include defining and executing engineering strategy in alignment with organizational objectives; leading and mentoring a multidisciplinary engineering team; and overseeing engineering projects to support timely delivery, budget adherence, and quality standards. You will drive process improvements to enhance productivity and operational efficiency, ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and internal quality benchmarks, and champion the adoption of new technologies and sustainable design practices. You will also collaborate with executive leadership and other departments to support broader company-wide initiatives.
Ideal qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a master’s degree or MBA considered an asset. You are expected to bring 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role, and experience in modular construction, manufacturing, or large-scale building projects is highly desirable. The role also calls for demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams and manage complex projects, strong strategic thinking and organizational change leadership, proficiency with design software, and excellent communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels, along with a results-driven mindset centered on quality and continuous improvement.
