The client is seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering to lead its Electrical division and help shape growth as a member of an experienced, collaborative design team. This role will provide electrical design services across a diverse portfolio of multi-residential, institutional, and commercial projects, combining technical involvement in the design process with hands-on project leadership, including construction administration, to support practical, coordinated, and cost-effective outcomes.
Key responsibilities include providing concept and detailed electrical design expertise for construction projects, overseeing electrical construction drawings, defining project scope, and developing designs that meet applicable industry code requirements while aligning with safe and cost-effective expectations. The role will also participate across multiple operational phases such as proposal and specifications work, bid document preparation, contract administration and construction reviews, and scheduling and budgeting control related to electrical engineering, while maintaining rigorous standards for project documentation, administration, and quality management.
Qualifications include an Electrical Engineering bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and experience in consulting, with professional engineer registration (P.Eng) required, including the ability to obtain/transfer registration as applicable within the relevant provincial engineering body. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organization and the ability to meet timelines, manage electrical projects and a design team (including electrical draftsman and EITs and other professional engineers), establish productive relationships with clients and external partners, and provide mentorship and insight to support high technical standards and clear communication across internal and external teams.
